Are you seeing the first bear market?

Hi guys, I’m Sashind from Mint Newspaper. I am looking for investors who started investing in the market during COVID-19 (or after it). For them, I guess this must be the first time they’re seeing a sustained bearish kind of market.

If you fit into this category, I want to know what you’re thinking about your current portfolio.

Can you pls help out by filling out this form: Mint Newspaper Article

Also, do let us know in the comments how you’re handling the market downturn

Rather than the first bear market, I would call it the first real bull market correction.

The reason is pretty simple: The excess euphoria that market experienced in 2024 especially post elections, Only that mad excess move retraced back so that sanity returns to market.

Real bear market is yet to come. Maybe it’ll come later this year

It’s very important to hold on to the stocks with good fundamentals. It’s very important to be diversified. Have some exposure to debt and gold. Keep investing.

I am ready with my cash.

Mutual funds sach me shai hai.

I am new to the markets and I started investing when the market was at 26000 exactly at the top. I kept on investing every month from September 2024. I choose only stocks from nifty and some ETFs. My portfolio is just 6% down as of today. I think keeping on investing is best in a falling market.

That’s interesting Tanya. You just entered the market and saw a downturn immediately. Would love to chat more about how you felt when that happened. Can you pls fill out this form  : Mint Newspaper Article

Indeed, in good mutual funds, managers would select good-quality companies. When markets go down, good companies will recover whereas the bad-quality ones might remain down only

For most part of the last 7 months, it was an indian specific bear market orchastrated mainly by RBI/Govt/SEBI by tightening the screws. There was too much of froth in the mrkt.

From last month or so, US markets joined the party. Otherwise china and European stocks are all doing great.

Its good that our markets cooled down a bit
