Ask me anything about Zerodha Fund House

Hey Gautam, thanks for your suggestions. However, these combos are not allowed as of now in the mutual fund format.

Hey Anil, the exchanges have a stringent criteria for this, so cannot say when it would happen.

I am 28 yr old investor and investing in ur fundhouse since a few months ago. I want to get 12-14 percent cagr (investment horizon >10yrs). Can you pls suggest the investment ratio between largemidcap 250 index and gold etf.
Should I opt for s&p500 in some percent of portfolio?

I know you are not financial advisor but will u pls help a guy who is at the age of which u have the experience. I also wrote a e-mail to your fundhouse today to arrange a contact with you.

Loved ur passive investment style
2001 nippon passive funding to india
Loved your podcasts at different youtube channels watched all ur podcasts
Sir pls help as there are so much misfininfluencers and no such great investment advise or advisor at the grassroot level or in tier 3 cities.

Looking forward to it. Really excited for this. This will be the next best thing happening to Indian mutual fund after equity index fund.

Is there any update on it?

Hey Mukesh, thanks for the kind words. However, difficult to comment on individuals portfolios. At a broader level, its always good to diversify one’s portfolio as it reduces risk. Gold having a low to negative co-relation with equity is a good to have in the portfolio. Usually, some data that WGC has released shows that a 2-10% Gold ratio is good to have in the portfolio but would definitely help to take advice from a professional based on your financial needs. Diversifying across countries and regions also helps, however ratio would again depend on your needs. Hope this helps. Rgds

Hey Saurabh, i understand that this is still under discussion at an industry level as based on the SEBI criteria there arent many debt indices which are qualifying. Therefore may take a few weeks more to get clarity. Rgds

Hi @VishalJain

  1. Gold mutual funds and ETFs pay 3% GST during the purchase (buying of Gold bars) and redemption of GOLD Units (selling Gold bars).

  2. Why Zerodha Fund House has Gold ETF and Gold FOF (holding same Z Gold ETF)?

Hi Vishal, where are you in your thought process
around SIFs and have you thought of any investment strategy’s that the fund is considering in equity or fixed income .

Hey Sarthak, as the criteria to launch SIF is quite stringent, its still early days for me to comment on this.

@VishalJain sir why the details are not updated in largemidcap 250 Index fund?

Hey Ramesh,

  1. Gold ETFs pay GST while purchasing the gold and receive GST while selling the gold. And this GST component is a part of the NAV.

  2. From a holdings standpoint, Zerodha Gold ETF FoF allows investors to take exposure to Gold in a non-ETF format as one does not need to necessarily open a demat and broking account. Certain features such as SIPs, switches, etc are easier to operationalise in a non-ETF format.

Hope this clarifies

Hey Mukesh, not able to specfically make out from this pic, do elaborate and will get it checked from the team. Rgds

So paying while purchasing gold and receive GST while selling gold make the GST component Zero.

So Gold ETF returns is not reduced by paying GST during GOLD purchase?

@VishalJain Sir
The details of segment wise are updated every quarter so the details segment wise equity large cap and equity midcap i.e. 50 percent each,

not updated on even 01.04.2025 and 02.04.2025.

I thought the weights are supposed to be reset to 50-50 between Nifty 100 and Midcap 150 every quarter. But it never went to 50-50. I have been checking everyday since 1st April and today is 3rd April. Does it happen half yearly? @VishalJain
