Basket order feature on Kite web - Testing & Feedback

When I create basket for Nifty future (calendar spread) Intraday then around 10K margin is required. For positional it is around 25K. If I want to convert it to positional, how the margin requirement will work? Do I need to have full margin for 1 leg or can I convert both the positions at same time without having additional (full 1 leg) margin?

Thank you for your reply.

Another thing I wanted to clear was, when exiting hedged positions, to avoid margin penalty it’s best to buy back sold positions first. So without creating an inverse basket order to square off the positions with the order of sold positions buyback first, if I tick the boxes in the correct order and execute it to square off, will the orders execute in the order that I ticked them, or just randomly ?

Execution depends on whether there is a Buyer/Seller available. Rather than doing this, it would be better if you yourself square-off Short positions first and then square-off long positions.

My strikes are ATM or the next strike from the atm. So liquidity is not an issue. What is an issue for me is instantaneous execution. That’s why I’ll be using market orders. Because it’s a large quantity even a 1 second lag manual execution can cause 7k loss, in BN especially.

Please allow us more than 20 orders in a basket.

I will need atleast 50 thanks!

This is very much needed. Adding from watchlist. Typing script name is such a pain.

What is the square off time for non intraday, positional (nrml) option positions( banknifty and nifty) on expiry day ? Is it 3:30pm ?

There is no square-off time for NRML positions like MIS. On expiry day if you don’t square-off your NRML position, if it expires OTM it will expire worthless and if it expires ITM it will be settled by the exchange. Any profit or loss arising will be credited to / debited from your account.

There are no additional charges for this, only for Long ITM positions exchange will charge STT at 0.125% on the Intrinsic Value of the Option.

Kite’s basket order facility is capped to 20 instruments/basket only. Can/will it be increased? I read sentinel provides 50 instruments.

there are so many placeholders with limited/restricted usage or less user friendly, if appropriate elbow room is provided, they can be used efficiently.

  1. instruments per basket order (20 current to 40 or 50)
  2. reduce interfaces which required mouse/scrolling… increase features for keyboard interactivity (vey important)
  3. why there is no option to maximize basket order window… need to scroll up/down all the time to view
  4. there should be option to maximize market watch and all the instruments from all the 5 pages (50 max) can be present there, as a heatmap is even better
  5. option order setup and punch from option chain (sensibull is REALLY REALLY heavy… they still havent learnt how to design efficient user interface and it always hangs if I load more than 12 instruments)
  6. rename a basket

No, we want to have a cap. If one require more than 20 they can create another basket.

then how do we see total margin required? as the orders (not yet executed, but being prepared) are split between 2 baskets and the backend doesnt know it yet. Or does it give proper margin (combines form both baskets)?

If not… can you add a feature, while creating a basket, we can tag other baskets, whose instruments are also to be considered for this baskets’ margin requirement calculation.

You place more than 20 orders at a time? are you fno trader or eq?

fno, index options

today i placed 30+ orders, all orders didnt get executed at once… I had to cut and stitch 5 -6 times…
due to strikes not allowed, sell before buy- restrictions acting against me…
and went into loss due to this reason… though I had 2x cash available of the final margin required

Still awaiting

Hi @siva-reddy,
I have a small query. I am trying to place an order using basket order but and it shows me some required margin and final margin lets call required margin as ‘x’ and final margin as ‘y’. But when I place the order the sell order for option does not gets executed with error regarding the margin. So I added more money to the account and was able to place the order. Is that an expected behavior. Can you please explain.
Thanks

Required margin tells you the margin which is required to place all the orders in the basket.

While Final margin is the margin which will be blocked after all your orders in basket are executed.

Hi @ShubhS9,
Thanks for answering my query. I have attached two screenshots of the same instant I was trading so as you can see I was trying to create a hedged position but I was getting error for insufficient funds. Is there any specific reason for that. I was only able to place order once I added more money.
Thanks

This is the basket order:

This is the margin error screenshot you can see previous two order got completed successfully.
