You can start your journey to learn about stock markets on Varsity :slightly_smiling_face:

Shoonya platform of finvasia is also decent, simple interface so not difficult for new traders.

What are the best paper trading platforms available in India right now?

Thank you Rahul!

If you’re just starting, most people use Zerodha, Upstox, or Angel One since they’re simple and easy to get started with. But once you start doing more active trading, like scalping or running option strategies (spreads, straddles, strangles, etc.), you might feel the broker apps are a bit limited it does not allows you to trade with one click. In terms of execution and trade management, their platforms are way behind professional trading terminals.

Personally I use a third-party terminal called OptionX along with my discounted broker. I mainly sell options and sometimes scalp, so for me execution speed and order control matter a lot. On OptionX you can place trades or full strategies with one-click execution, and also set target and stop-loss in the same order. It also has PnL-based exits, which is useful if you want to manage risk at the portfolio level rather than leg by leg.

For learning though, I’d definitely recommend starting with paper trading first. OptionX has a free paper trading mode which is useful for testing strategies without risking real money.

For resources, Zerodha Varsity is honestly one of the best places to start if you want to understand options properly. After that, you can explore strategy videos on YouTube and practice them in a simulator.
