I trade two strategies and sometimes the signal are opposite in both, like one goes long and other goes short at different times. The underlying I trade is nifty futures contract. However, if I want to keep open a long position, along with taking short, that is not possible unlike forex markets as instead of keeping the long position open, it will square it off.
Has the exchange disallowed this or technically its not possible to do ? @nithin
Not allowed by exchange to keep two positions open on same instrument for opposite direction for same client with same broker as broker has to report net position and OI at eod( end of day), for intraday you can use different product type and take though. As you said this is allowed on forex because most of them are not traded on exchanges and in most cases the platform you trade will be your counter party so no reporting or regulations.
