BSE is retaining weekly option contracts in SENSEX

According to the guidelines provided in the SEBI circular on 1st October 2024 regarding weekly index derivatives products, BSE has announced the following:

  • Weekly Index Derivatives contracts on SENSEX 50 will be discontinued with effect from November 14, 2024 end of day.

Note: SENSEX 50 is different from the headline index SENSEX which covers top 30 companies whereas SENSEX 50 covers top 50 companies of the index.

  • Weekly Index Derivatives contracts on BANKEX will be discontinued with effect from November 18, 2024 end of day.

Note: New weekly contracts will not be generated after the expiry of existing unexpired contracts. Existing unexpired contracts will continue till their respective expiry.

BSE will continue with SENSEX

Under the new rules, stock exchanges will only be allowed to offer weekly expiry contracts on one benchmark index and BSE has decided to continue weekly derivative contracts in SENSEX.

The monthly F&O contracts shall continue in all three indices.
