I am running short of margin and want to avoid auto square off as only 2 days are remaining for expiry. I can see an option to convert my position to MIS. Can I convert my position to MIS now when the market is closed? I am confused as I can see option to convert to MIS. If I convert it, will it work and get treated as MIS for tomorrow?
If not, can I convert it tomorrow morning before the market opens?
HI Jenny,
During the last 2 days of expiry, zerodha blocks 50% of the contract value for NRML, and converting to MIS will be 50% of the prescribed NRML.
After Markets are closed you will not be able to convert positions, provided you will be able to convert positions only before the market opens

Thanks!
If I am short of margin, how much time zerodha gives before auto sqaure off?
It is up to RMS, if you are short on margin, it is advised you fullfill the requirment.
I will convert to MIS by around 9.16 and add fund later just in case I want to convert it to NRML. I hope i will get at least few minutes if I am short of margin
Jenny, you can convert it during 9- 9:15 am when premarket is open. I had tried it once and it worked.
Can you try it and see how your funds showed up?
Note : you may need to logout and login for funds to get updated.
I switched at around 7.30 AM and it worked for me
