Can I pledge shares which are sitting in a different demat account (non-Zerodha demat)?

Is it possible to pledge shares form a non-Zerodha demat a/c? Why Yes/No?

IL&FS demat is possible since Zerodha has the power of attorney for the account opened through them, but if demat is of any other broker- pledging cannot be done, as Zerodha won’t have the rights/power of attorney/view of the holdings in that demat account.
