Can I sell stock and use that money to buy different stock in same day?

I remember there are weird rules now about available cash for trading.

My account value is 35L in equity holding with only 30K in cash.

I want to sell some stocks and ETF worth 6L. I want to buy other ETF/stocks as CNC worth 6L.

Will there be some problem?

under sebi’s peak margin norms, when selling stocks from a demat account, only 80% of the sale value can be credited for subsequent trades on the same day in the same or different segments. the remaining 20% credit will be held in kite’s delivery margin field until the next trading day.

Thanks. I have some pledged holdings. Will it help in covering the missing 20%?

funds already present in your account is not affected. only 20% from your delivery sales is held for 1 day.

I think you misunderstood my question.

I want to sell share worth 10L and buy share worth 10L on same day. I don’t have any cash balance, only pledged holdings.

According to you, I will get 80% credit from the sale towards a new order on same day.

What about remaining 20%? If I have pledged holdings, can I use them towards missing 20%?

"We have now enabled selling of pledged stocks instantly. Funds from sale can be used for purchasing other securities, trading F&O, etc. Simply place a normal sell CNC order for the pledged + free holdings quantity. When you place a sell order for pledged quantity, the collateral margin given for the pledged stocks in your account will decrease, and when the order is executed, you will receive 80% of the sale credit to your account, just like any other sale of free holdings.
