Can i take future position using money from sale of equity from demat account

System will allow to take the future positions.

As per the exchange settlement norms one can't utilize his/her funds to take positional trade in F&O after selling delivery equities shares. (The settlement cycle for equity is T+2 days)

If client has squared off his/her positions in NSE F&O, the same amount can’t be utilized to take positional trade in CDS. (Reason the actual funds going to be credited on T+1 days)

And also if client has squared off his/her position in Options (FO & CDS), the same funds can’t be utilized for taking a fresh position in future contract. (Reason the actual funds going to be credited on T+1 days)

Hi Pawan, so whats your answer. Can we take a future postion or not. Cause in the opening line you say that system will allow and then you say settlement is T+2.
OR Does it vary from broker to broker???

I am not sure, but the margin balance available in trading account can be used for both EQ and FnO.

So once you sell your equity shares, your Limit Balance in trading account will increase immediately. This can be used to enter FnO positions.

(This is what offered by Broker, even though you will get your actual money in T+2 days, broker is allowing you to use it immediatley, knowing that he will nay way get the money on T+2 days)
