I have multiple Demat accounts and want to know that can I use different email IDs in different Demat accounts? Will I face any issues?
@himudaji Yes, you can use different email IDs for demat accounts held with different brokers, or the same email address for multiple demat accounts across different brokers, as there are no regulatory restrictions on this.
Please carefully read my question I asked can I use different email ids in different brokers. @nithin_kumrr
Doesn’t matter as long as emails are active and you’re able to manage all the emails and demat accounts. You may do it.
Don’t you think KYC will put on hold if email ids are different ?
Hi @Private , KRA triggers verification for contact details. Provided that these details are verified, clients are permitted to trade. Explained here
So If Person use different email ids for different brokers. KRA KYC will only have one email id and broker with other email id will put account on hold.
I also have this doubt. If we use multiple emails in different demats then which email will be registered in the kra and what will happen to that demats where other emails are registered. Please tell me sir @nithin @moderators
Imagine you have accounts with three brokers (A, B, and C) and have registered different email IDs with each:
- Broker A - Registered with [email protected] (Opened account on Jan 1st, 2021)
- Broker B - Registered with [email protected] (Opened account on Jan 1st, 2022)
- Broker C - Registered with [email protected] (Opened account on Jan 1st, 2023)
Since the latest email ID you updated was [email protected] with Broker C, this should be the email reflected on your KRA (KYC Registration Agency) profile.
If you update your email with Broker B to [email protected] on May 1, 2023, KRA will replace the email on record with [email protected] as the latest update.
Since the email is now modified, KRA initiates a verification process by sending a confirmation email to the updated address. You also have the option to verify the email directly on the KRA’s portal. Once you complete this verification, KRA will mark your account as verified, and the update process will be completed.
This ensures that the latest email on your KRA profile is both updated and verified.
It’s important to note that these changes affect only your KRA profile and do not update the email across all your broker accounts. Each broker will continue using the email ID registered directly with them unless you update it separately.
Hope this clarifies.
Thanks for the confirmation @Alwin . But I want to know if I continue using old emails other than the registered one in Kra with the brokers then I will be asked by brokers to update the same email which is registered in KRA? Will I face any issue if I use different email id’s in different demat accounts of mine.
Suppose
In zerodha I opened account in 2020 and used email for example xyz123 @ gmail . com
In dhan I opened account in 2023 and used email for example abc456 @ gmail . com
In groww I opened account in 2024 and used email for example vyz729 @ gmail . com
Then in KRA vyz729 @ gmail . com will be updated. But my question is will zerodha asked me to update the email which is registered latestly in KRA?
I mean is it necessary to use same email which is registered with KRA in all the demats?
No
No, As mentioned in earlier post, You can use multiple email IDs across multiple brokers/demat accounts.
Thanks
Hi @Alwin sir,
Can I also use different mobile numbers in different demat accounts?
And the number used with latest opened demat account will be registered with KRA right?
Or in the case of mobile number I have to use only one number in all demat accounts? Please clarify this also.
And last question, is it necessary to use the same number which is linked with Aadhar in the demat account?
No. You can use any number on your demat account/s.
Yes. The same rules that apply to email(Explained above in the thread) also apply to mobile numbers.
