As an individual trader, I have always preferred writing options, even if it means for intraday. The time decay is in your favor. What ratio? hmmm… don’t know the numbers but definitely better than buying options. 
I agree with Nithin, Eventhough I lack the personal experience on this matter, many of the succesful people I have come across, has mentioned that option writing is their cup of tea.
