Capital gains on shared where STT is not paid

I inherited shared from my father in 2006, I am holding them until now and want to sell.
My father had received shares in the form of compensation (not sure if units or options/ESOP) in 2000 when there was no STT (not sure his company paid STT).
Today if I sell, how will the LTCG be calculated?
I see that LTCG is 20% if STT is not paid.

@Quicko can you.

Hey @vy17,

As per the changes announced in Union Budget 2024, LTCG from any kind of capital assets will be taxed at 12.5%. Hence, in your case as well, if you decide to sell these shares now you’ll have to pay tax at the rate of 12.5%.
