Hi,
I am having physical share certificate with two names (i.e. X & Y). Now I want single name (i.e. X, which is already in the share certificate) in the said share certificate. Please kindly guide in this matter and oblige.
@ashesh.suthar Hi Ashesh,
You would have to contact the RTA (Registrar & Transfer of share Agent) or more commonly known as Registrars. They can help you change the name on the Share Certificate.
You can check who the registrar for that company is in Moneycontrol
Search for a company, Ex: Infosys
Select Company Info>> Management >> Registrar
If you write/contact them they’ll explain the process and send you the required documents to be sent along with the Share certificate.
To change the shareholder name on a physical share certificate from joint holders (X & Y) to a single name (X), you need to follow these steps:
-
Submit a request to the company or Registrar & Transfer Agent (RTA) with a written application signed by both shareholders (X and Y), stating their consent to remove Y’s name and keep the shareholding solely in X’s name.
-
Return the original share certificate to the company/RTA along with the application.
-
The company may require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the shareholder whose name is being removed (Y).
-
The company will then process the request and issue a new share certificate in the name of X alone after updating the share register.
-
Stamp duty and other applicable fees may be payable as per the state laws.
Note: If the shares are held in dematerialized form, this process must be done through your Depository Participant (DP) by submitting appropriate transfer instructions.
