One friend of mine received an email saying his AMC is due and the amount is 75 + GST however his holdings are something like this
Equities ~ 12k
Listed Corp Bonds ~10k
MFs ~90k
Doesn’t this still qualify for BSDA as per SEBI rules?
Edit: He has no other demat account and Zerodha CMR shows BSDA Flag Yes quite confusing.
@nithin @Meher_Smaran @ShubhS9
recently my father open Trading and demat account. Zerodha CMR shows BSDA flag No.
He doesn’t have any other demat account.
I believe the difficulty to streamline AMC arises because a quarter is calculated from the day of account opening, and therefore the AMC charging period would differ from person to person.
Since interest charges apply for debit balance (i.e. when adequate funds aren’t available in trading account), for someone who is not active, it is possible that the fund balance could be NIL on the day the AMC is charged. This is very much possible, when the AMC is charged after the quarterly settlement date.
Yes same. Got an email in July but not debited yet
Can easily solve this buy charging pro rata for first quarter
Yeah.
If they can pro-rate it , then the charges can be made following a fiscal quarter for everyone, and AMC date can be fixed at the end of each quarter.
Hi Chetan, before debiting an AMC we send an email which mentions for what period the AMC is being levied (refer to sample email screenshot). It’s possible that an account was non-BSDA during that period and not anymore. If you can DM the client ID, we’ll check and clarify.
We don’t compute/calculate BSDA. CDSL gives us the BSDA flag, so it’s possible an old inactive demat with another DP or holdings value demat is beyond the BSDA limit.
Apologies. This happened recently due to a bug, and some clients received an email in advance. We’ve fixed it.
@tallerballer @SG_13 yes, we’re exploring some steps to make it easier for users. Also, we’ll soon give the option to pay upfront for a year, so one need not worry about quarterly deductions.
I also got that AMC email saying the same thing.
This is the first time my father has opened trading and demat account. How can I correct it ?
You can DM the client id, we’ll check and clarify.
Why you not completely waive off this AMC…most of brokers not charging it since long time now
Yes, your mutual fund holdings in Zerodha will be in demat form along with stocks, debt etc. We charge at the account level, nothing specific to MF or Equity.
