Coin and Smallcase

Hi,

If I’m buying mutual funds on the Coin app, will I receive a folio number for them? Will they appear on the Smallcase app like other mutual funds? Can I exit them from the Smallcase app?

Also, the mutual funds I purchased on the Smallcase app do not appear in the Coin app. Why?

Yes, when you purchase mutual funds on the Coin app, you will receive a folio number for them.

Mutual funds purchased on the Coin app will not appear in the Smallcase app. Similarly, mutual funds purchased on Smallcase don’t appear in Coin app. This is because Smallcase and Coin are different platforms with different functionalities:

  • Coin app is specifically designed for mutual fund investments.
  • Smallcase is primarily for investing in baskets of stocks/ETFs based on themes or strategies.

Key differences between Smallcase and Mutual Funds:

  • With Smallcase, you directly own the underlying stocks in your demat account.
  • With Mutual Funds, you own units of the fund, not the individual securities.
  • Smallcase investments can be tracked on stock trading platforms like Kite.
  • Mutual funds are tracked on platforms like Coin.
  • Smallcase offers more control over your portfolio (you can add/remove stocks), while mutual funds are managed entirely by fund managers.

Please note, Mutual funds and Small case purchases can be tracked on Kite.

Thanks!
