I would study computer science really deep. Specifically algorithms, probability and statistics, number theory and enter into data analytics.

I would pursue data analytics and look for pattern matching, A* and neural networks.

This could be a standard basis to analyse stocks and financial markets.

So I’d pursue computer science and the stocks / finance markets will become a byproduct of my learning.

If I do not succeed at stocks, I’d still get a decent job and still make a good salary on things I’ll like.

This is one way of seeing it, I’m not saying you do it this way. But this is one of the many ways .
