How do I create a new folio for an existing mutual fund in Coin? I am not seeing any button.
I invest during dips and want to maintain 2 folios. One for automated SIP and one for manual investments.
Having separate folios is also useful for tax harvesting purposes since older folios could have more indexation benefits. Other platforms like Kuvera offer this feature where you can click a button to create a new folio for the same fund.
Currently since the investment is in a demat mode the units will land up in the same Demat account under the isin (folio number won’t matter), here the units will be debited on a FIFO basis. To solve this we are coming up with secondary Demat account option for long term investments and WIP. Will update once live.

Are you talking about a new CDSL demat account with a different account number, or somethin like a virtual account?
New CDSL demat account. A secondary demat where you can move your stocks which cannot be sold
For how long it can’t be sold? It’s interesting 
You can keep the same as for however long you want to, there won’t be any restrictions.
Hi Neelesh, any update on this? Do you have a provision to create separate folio within same DEMAT account for mutual funds? Or create a separate DMAT account?
We are working on the secondary demat allowance for such bifurcation between long-term and short-term investments in the same securities. This is work in progress And we’ll share an update once it’s live.
