Hello @nithin_kumrr and Zerodha team ,
Is it possible to add currently available Gsecs also in the discover (not gsec etfs - already included)
sample gsec is : 734GS2064-GS

Basically, these 122 outstanding ones as of today.
Also, consider supporting T-Bills, and SDLs for good measure.

With those building blocks in place,
can then think of enabling mass retail-participation
in sovereign bonds appropriate to one’s needs…

I was keen to get the GSEC in discover option since it auto updated with adding new and removing old .
Personally - Tbills and SDLs , I have not yet used due to my thin limited budget (My total portfolio size is very low - slowly but increasing due to Zerodha Tools and pricing ).
Also if these are from states and municipalities - then I think it may be like bonds from companies and NBFC , failure in the repay is a problem . I am from Kerala , the debt level per person is rising and major industries are not here to trigger growth …

Not really. Neither are from municipalities nor NBFCs.

T-Bills carry the same central govt. sovereign guarantee.

SDLs have a theoeretical marginal risk. (no historical precedent)
To further minimise even this concenr,
one can ignore investing in states that one feels might split from the sovereign.
(yes, that’s the degree of marginal risk).

AFAIK, historically,
this has been immaterial to a state’s ability to pay interest and principal on their SDLs in a timely manner,
as such necessary funds are disbursed on time
with the amount added to the debt balance of the state.

To minimise even this concern,
one can explore states with high demographic dividend (and suitable policies)
for the duration/period one plans to invest in their bonds.
