Do you trust breakouts more when volume comes first or after price moves?

I have noticed that many breakouts look clean only after the candle has already moved a lot.

Do you prefer seeing volume expansion before the breakout candle, on the breakout candle, or only after price retests the level?

Personally, I find retests easier to judge than the first breakout candle, but they also mean missing some fast moves. Curious how others handle this.

I’m still learning, but I find retests easier to understand. I miss some fast moves, but I feel more confident entering after seeing the level hold.

That makes sense. I also find a retest easier because the level gives a cleaner invalidation point.

The trade-off is missing some fast moves, but at least the risk is easier to define.
