Does Option have a pre-open session

In Equities

The pre-open session is for a duration of 15 minutes i.e. from 9:00 am to 9:15 am. The pre-open session is comprised of Order collection period and order matching period.

Hello traders
I am new in stock market. i research about Option pre-open session but, I couldn’t find specific details about a pre-open session in Options(Like- Nifty50 19200 CE, SBIN 520 CE).

My question is: Does Option have a pre-open session, and if not, how is the opening price calculated in the absence of a pre-open session?

Hey @deepakjain05

Unlike equities, options do not have a pre-open session as they are derivative products.

In the case of equities, the exchange initiates order collection from 9:00 AM to 9:08 AM in what is known as the pre-market window. This period allows for the matching of orders to determine the opening price of the stock at 9:15 AM for the day.

The opening price of FNO (Futures and Options) is then derived based on the market opening price and is further influenced by demand and supply.
