Does this Option Backtest UI look ok?

Hey, I am working on an Option Backtesting web app for a couple of months. The original app worked in terminal only, and the UI was added much later. So I wanted to get opinions from fellow Option Traders on whether this UI looks intuitive and easy to use?

Not bad, but ugly icons especially for entry and exit, too big sliders, not smooth sliders, “Select strategy” and the dropdown seems uneven… I think it could be left aligned or fill the entire horizontal space without margins… space around it looks out of place. colors could be a little better… red and blue …I don’t think they complement the other so well… especially the transparent red…

Functionality wise, (not tested, so can’t say for sure), but looks ok to good. Where is the lot multiplier? Live rates especially IVs?

Wow! Thanks for such a detailed feedback. I will go through each of your points later.

As for colors, this is a problem with any finance related apps. The thing is you need to have 2 base colors (1 primary + 1 secondary) to make any ui work. Green/Red are associated with profit/loss so you can’t use them as base colors. Blue is the only other primary color left. So I chose to go with blue+pink. I agree the pink is a bit ugly. I will try to find better colors that work well with both light/dark theme.

Buy default it uses 1 lot with the current lot size (65). I am trying to keep it simple so a new trader isn’t overwhelmed by too many options. There will be a button to show advanced options like lots-count, lot-size, dates, brokerage/slippage, etc for people who want to play with them.

Can you make it like Tasty’s new backtest feature? :cherries:
It doesn’t have to be a clone but that’s a good starting point. :point_left:

Btw, how trustworthy is your historical data and how far back does it go?

Tastytrades? I don’t have an account with them so can’t see how their backtesting works. If you can share a youtube video or pic of what feature you have in mind, I will be happy to consider it.

My data goes from 2020 Jan to now (~1500 trading days). Currently I am limiting it to NIFTY only. I have plans to add other indices/fno stocks but with no weekly expiries in them, there isn’t enough data or interest in them as of now.

i would not even bother building this, multiple such options already there in market

Here you go:

Features like DTE based entry/exit, SL & TP, multiple trades on at a time would be nice. :rocket:

Which ones? I’ve used Algotest and their backtesting tool is very limited. Geared more towards intraday strats. :face_exhaling:
