Don't want to offset F&O losses with FD * interest income

Hi, new here !

I last year had a 11 month internship – of which 9 fell in financial year
My income from Stipend ( which is classified as salary ) is way below taxable

I did some F&O trading – > and had loss of 16.9-17k
I had some FD & savings interest income → which comes out to be 25-26K

As i am way below taxable , I don’t want to offset the 25-26k amount from FD with F&O loses. I want to carry forward the entire 17k loss

is it allowed – or because offsetting is possible, i have to compulsorily offset it ?

No, you cannot voluntarily skip the set-off just to preserve the loss for future years. Set-off provisions are mandatory in computing total income, which is why the carry-forward amount is only the unabsorbed balance.

@Aditya_07

You cannot manually edit the offsetting of losses. The system automatically adjusts it against your other sources income.

Thanks
