DP charges and STT charges

  1. Is DP charges varies with turnover or it alwage fixed if not what is maximum ?

  2. Why stt Charges is alwage 10 time higher then zerodha brokerage calculator ? it shows 1 rs on calculator and charges 11 rs.

  1. Depend on the brokerage you are trading. Most traditional ones have charges like 0.03% or Rs 30 whichever is higher. At Zerodha DP charge is a flat Rs 13.5 per scrip per day sold (irrespective of the quantity sold). The Rs. 13.5 includes Rs. 8 for Zerodha and Rs. 5.5 for CDSL. Taxes will be additional to this.

  2. STT on calculator should match your actual brokerage. If you are not seeing the same, I am guessing you are entering some wrong values on calculator.

but i get Charged rs 15.46 for a single order.

It is Rs 13.5 plus service tax and all. It is per scrip per day. So if you sell Reliance stock 10 times during the day, DP charge will be only once.

Hi Nitin,

When the DP Charges are debited from the ZERODHA trading account. Is it available in the contract note?

@nithin When the DP Charges are debited from the ZERODHA trading account. Is it available in the contract note?

Hi,

DP or Depository participant charge is levied on stock movement out of demat account which managed by depositories (NSDL or CDSL). This has no relation to contract note which captures all trades and related charges executed on the stock exchanges (NSE or BSE). Hence DP charges and also demat account maintenance charges are levied separately on the ledger and not on contract note.

Thanks.

Rs.13.5/- for NSE or for BSE or for both?

Hi RahulN

It’s for both (any exchange). If stocks are debited from your DEMAT account then this charges (Rs. 13.5 + GST) are applicable.
