Financial Astrology - Works or Is it Bunkum?

i always used to fully believe that financial astrology as a study tool is completely fake and is only done by scammers.

but i have seen some of my frnds and their frnds make good money over a period of many years consistently by taking views based on indian financial astrology studies. the following are the points mentioned by them which are worth mentioning and discussing :

i. the issue is not with the field itself as the studies work but the issue with the capability of ppl who analyze.

ii. it can work well when combined and matched with other studies like fundamentals and technicals as probability of success becomes higher.

iii. there are many backtested data about what market does on what type of astrolgical day.

iv. just like there are 1000s of scammers and only few genuine analysts in other types of analysis, the same is applicable in this field.

Im still a big sceptic about this field , but I would like to know if such stuff worked for anyone here? ofcourse individually it may not be advisable but is it a useful tool if combined with other studies? have u come across any genuine financial astrolger? if yes, what makes them genuine…

wah!

I don’t know much about financial astrology, but I do know of a chimp that beat 6000 professional brokers on Wall Street.

I think it has its place in the markets. The primary utility it serves is that it gives the investor comfort. It can be spoken at lengths that trading, investment is a pure science or skill-based activity, but is it? It’s not, it’s a mix of a lot of human emotions, randomness, and some method.

Anything that makes someone more comfortable taking decisions is A-okay in my books. This is not just in trading, actual skill-based activities also have elements of comfort-seeking. Athletes, who are supposed to be purely skill-based, wear one particular shoe before the other before the match or do some sort of personal rituals before entering the game or else they will play bad. Many actors don’t sign the movie on certain days and dates, Exchanges run “Mahurat” sessions, Builders lay the foundation stone on certain days.

These are no different from Astrology, but the value received from this false sense of comfort is still value. Neither much different from Astrology are financial analysts who give all sorts of calls based on all sorts of analysis taught in the first semester of B-school, yet have to work a job somewhere to bring food to the table. A cushy job, yes, but still a job. If they are so sure with their buy, sell, hold ratings, what’s stopping them from becoming a successful hedge fund manager or only trading their own desk accountable only to themselves?

This point forms the most valid argument against these “Financial Astrologers”. If you can see the future, there is no need to sell these predictions for Rs.499 a month. There is this saying that the fastest way to make quick money, is to sell people courses about how to make quick money. In these times where every person who entered the markets 14 days back is a “Finfluencer”, this quote hasn’t been any truer.
