Reading through this list got me thinking about
the various practices adopted to nudge user behavior a certain way
without any intent of defrauding the user.
For a moment, If one keeps aside their beliefs about what the intent is,
and simply reviews some practices adopted by a platform,
it is quite tricky to objectively determine where UX “best-practices” end and where dark-patterns begin.
So, inevitably one ends-up either criticizing or justifying such behavior by a platform,
based on one’s beliefs (and also what might be widely accepted),
as behavior that is in the best interests of the user or not.
So, who decides that ?
