How Brokerage is calculated?

Can someone please tell me how zerodha is calculating Brokerage for trade?
For Eg.:
If I have an F&O position with 2 lots of some scrip open in my trade. After some Profit I booked 1 Lot, then I sell my 2nd and final lot after sometime.
On selling of my both lots separately, Do I have to pay 2 times Brokerage(20+20) for the same position?

Hi @Piyush_R

That’s correct. The brokerage is charged based on the executed order.

As we incur costs for every order, regardless of its size. That’s why we charge on a per-order basis instead of basing it on the order size. Be it 1 lot or 1000 lots.

Got it brother. Thank you.

I have another question, when I place order for 1000 shares on equity sometimes the order is split with multiple quantities like 500 + 300 + 200 on execution by Zerodha. Does each this split orders count brokerage? or only one time brokerage charged for the single order placed by me?

We charge per executed order, so no additional charge if your order is executed in parts.

Btw, for equity delivery we are still 0 brokerage.

Thanks for the quick response, but compare to intra day the delivery trade attracts more STT and taxes. How to balance for optimized profit reducing tax and charges?

More STT and not more taxes. You actually pay lesser taxes including GST (since we don’t charge brokerage, you save that also) and capital gain taxes are also lower.

There is no way to optimize for STT, Taxes, etc.

Got it, So can we claim STT paid as a reduction during income tax return?

Nope, you cannot
