How do I update and correct my name and other details on PAN card?

Can anyone help me with the process for getting my name and other details corrected in my PAN? Thanks

There are a couple of methods through which you can do corrections to your PAN details.

Online method

You can correct your PAN details online by visiting the NSDL website: https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html

Do note, you will need your Aadhaar and your Aadhaar registered mobile number to complete the process online.


After visiting the above link, select “Application type” as “Changes or Correction in existing PAN data” and select “Category” from the dropdown.


Fill in the application information details like Title, Surname, Name, Middle name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, Citizenship status, and PAN number, and click Submit.


After submitting, on a new page, a token number will be generated which will also be sent to your email ID provided. This will be valid for 30 days, and you can complete the application anytime within this period.

To proceed forward, click on “Continue with PAN application form”. You will now see the form to update the details of your PAN.

Select the mode through which you want to submit documents and whether you want a physical PAN or not.

  • Select “Submit images through e-sign” if you want to change your photo and signature on PAN.


Then provide your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and your Name.


Fill in the details like Title, Surname, Name, Middle name, the name that you want to be shown on PAN, date of birth, and gender.

  • The name you provide in this field should be the same as the proof of identity you will be submitting.


Tick this box and fill in the details if you wish to change your parent’s name.


On the next page, you will have to provide the address for communication, either address of your residence or office.

  • If you wish to change the address, you can do so by ticking the “If you desire to update your other address, give required details and submit Proof of other Address” field.

  • The address you provide here should be the same as the address proof document you will be submitting.

If you have been issued any other PAN cards, mention their number and click on Next.


On the next page, you will have to provide details of the documents submitted as proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of date of birth. Along with this, you will have to provide details of who is making the application, and number of documents submitted, and the name of the place.


In the next step, you will have to upload your photo and signature along with supporting documents selected in the above step. Please make sure the files are not password protected.

After you’ve uploaded all the documents, click on Submit.


On the next page, check and confirm all the details you have provided and click on Proceed. After this, you will be asked to make the payment, select your preferred payment method and make the payment.

After making the payment, complete the Aadhaar e-sign to submit your online PAN modification application. The correction process can take up to 7 days.


Offline method

You can also complete the process offline. To complete the process offline, you will have to download the PAN correction form and fill in all the necessary details.

After this, submit the form along with all necessary documents such as proof of identity, proof of address, passport-size photo, etc. at the nearest NSDL collection center. You can search for centers near you here.

After submitting the application and making the payment, you will get a 15-digit acknowledgment number to track the status of your PAN card application
