How do you find if institutions entered the market

Hi , How to find if institutions entering market or already entered the market. Right now I can interpret by comparing previous day volume and today volume, but this wont help us if institution are accumulating / dumping for several weeks.

Exactly how to know they are playing in one stock.

You can find them in high volume candles followed by sideways accumulation, these are usually market orders meant to wash out all the limits entries executed using a higher dimension order flow. In TV, there are indicators to track these types of trades. Lower time frames (<1min) can give you a real-time glimpse of how these orders work.

Whats the indicator name and how to set volume in different color like urs

can you explain bit more about this , I am curious , why do they need to washout , when they can just start accumulating right away.

Some of these floor traders have to clear a quota of a certain volume and price point so that their comission on their trades goes up -mind you they make millions every trading day just in comission, which is why they trigger a reaction in the market so that retail traders and other institutional traders can unload/buy their block of shares when they see a washout like this.Keeping a steady range, buying or selling all the unloaded loot they cover their quota. Today these wash traders are now a textbook material in US but Indians are yet to identify these creatures during the trading days. Today they manage a co-ordinated approach, they team up with their other couterparts to create a maximum impact there by creating a highly volatile and manipulated intraday environment that is very hard to master for the retail traders in India. However, over the years in advanced economies as the countries progressed so did the value of the popular stocks so even these floor traders are now worried about spending billions just to move the candle up a notch.

This question is not clear.

Are you looking to find out whether one particular institution is taking a position on a stock on a given day, or are you concerned about institutions in general being interested in a stock, where I would understand your question to be interested in the trading behaviour of any entity that has price-making ability, not necessarily “institutions” narrowly defined.

If you are interested in price-making behaviour by entities, then you are probably looking for the bulk deals reported to the exchanges: BSE Equity : Bulk Deals.

As defined on the BSE website, a bulk deal is:

With a view to imparting transparency in BULK Deal so as to prevent rumors/speculation about deals causing volatility in the Security prices, disclosures shall be made with respect to all transactions in Security where total quantity of shares brought/sold is more than 0.5% of the number of equity shares of the company listed on the stock exchange.

Note however, that you do not have to be an “institution” to make a bulk deal.
