How do you trade the sideways market?

hi,
i am able to trade the morning market session which is from time 9:45 am to 11:45 am but find it difficult to have the opportunity to enter the trade in the afternoon session specially from 12 pm till 2 pm when the stocks direction is generally in the sideways. how do you trade the sideways market, any specific strategy, can you please share it with me.
finding really difficult to even scalp also in the afternoon session.

for general stocks, not the options because options i find a little harder to manipulate and trade.
i am asking mainly for the futures and general stocks, not the options, as i am beginner in trading and have less knowledge about options.
any set of particular patterns on chart on which i do need to focus on ?
