How does one become a professional quant or h. f. t. or fund manager?

  1. is there any particular university or a graduation program to be pursued ?

  2. from how & where do institutions select & hire these people ?

Quant/HFT trading includes more technology skills than stock market skills. You will see many of these firms hire PHD’s in maths, statistics, etc.

A normal mutual fund manager is not required to have any tech background, and there is no particular university/degree for this. Typically an MBA from a very good business school (like the IIM’s) is a good way to make it as a fund manager.

If you are brilliant picking stocks, you could directly reach out to funds and try selling them why they should hire you.
