How does Short work in Indian Cash Market

Hi all,

How does carry forward shorts work in Indian Market ?

From where do the Short guys get delivery from other than SLB ?

Is there a different mechanism for the same ?

my question is

  1. are there other mechanism for Lending and borrowing in Indian Market?
  2. Do mutual funds/DII lend the stocks
  3. if there is, who is the intermediatry/ or is it one on one contract ?

How does it work other than NSE SLB market.

  1. You can get offline shares from promoters / other investors. This might not be possible for every individual.
  2. Nope they are not allowed by SEBI to do so
  3. N/A
