Personal opinion: Reviewing In absolute terms may not be useful.
While it appears cost have shot up to double in last 10 years, my salary has gone up almost 3 times in last 10 years.
So relatively my wallet still has more money than it used to have in 2014 
I think you might be the minority whose salary managed to keep up with and exceed inflation.
