How many days does it take to open NPS account?

Can I open a new NPS account within one day ? Since 31st march is last day of FY and I thought it’s a good idea to claim additional tax benefits of 50k.

From my personal experience, it would take

  • 2 days to verify account statement(if you start NPS from Zerodha)
  • 1 day for NPS virtual account activation(for NEFT transfers)
  • 1 more day for the transfer to get reflected

So, it should take 4 days (add additional days for weekends or holidays in between those 4 days)
