How many of you trade in first 5 Mins?

Although had a plan not to trade in first 5 Mins, How many of you trade in first 5 Mins after seeing the momentem?

for trading in first 5 min, you should be well aware of stock trend and it’s behavior and it’s upcoming events or recent news,
else the volatility may eat up you stop-loss

First 5 minutes?
First 15 minutes & upto first 30 minutes can be full of noise. You will see very high volume initially which subsides after some time.

There is one guy who trades or used to trade in first 5 minutes. He’s @mexpress

I do Trade in First 5 Minutes and many Times I have taken Trades.
And the Maximum Profits I Have capture in these first 5 minutes till date now in my Trading life.

And my Favourites are shorting Gap-Up Opening.
I would say not 5 minutes but few seconds and Book Good Profits.

Gap-Down Opening are my second favorites.

( I have already Answered My concept of Gap-Up and Gap-Down Opening )

I would Suggest new Traders not to trade in First Half an hours of opening Market.

No never

I learned my lesson when I shorted BhartiArtl based on news and the stock went down 10 points only to book loss of 14k when it reversed right when I shorted it in the first few minutes.

I am sure it was UIDAI News day? RIGHT?

The volatility in the first 5 mins can be brutal therefore I don’t trade during this time. I do watch the stocks on my watch list very carefully during this period and occasional take trades after 10 mins or so if clear strength or weakness is visible.

Another reason for not taking the opening trade is that if the trade goes wrong, it puts me on the defensive for the rest of the day and I either keep kicking yourself for taking the stupid trade or worse, try to “make up” for the losses by taking sub-optimal trades later… Moreover, my track record for opening trades has been abysmal (bringing back some bad memories) :expressionless:

On those rare occasions I do fall into the temptation of taking the opening trade, I keep my position size 1/4th of the normal size and trade only in Cash and keep a wider stop-loss.

Cheers!

Yes I remember you warned me on the newsday as well but me being naive I shorted it anyway.

9.25 am , good time to short straddle or strangle on index

Lots of retail traders fell trap to airtel after creating short positions during quarterly result. But the stock kept rallying nonstop for many days.

The one who created long positions were too late as the stock already gave abnormal rally for a couple of days. One person on this forum lost 1L due to this. Not good

i also trade in high volume… its a child play… whats the matter?

Would like to read that

If you have average capital amount then you need to invest in the currency market as it is more liquid market. If you have experience and confidence then you can gain good returns in a short time with proper risk management. What do you people think?

i trade…

No, I don’t. Would like to start trading around 10.00AM.
If I have a carry forwarded position and its making loss at the opening, will cut it in 5 Mins. If it’s in profit will let it be open.

Cut your Losses, Let profit positions be open.

Yes I have traded in first 5 mins in Futures, but not for taking intraday trades but to take swing trades.

E.g. In your aftermarket study you sometimes see some distinct patterns and want to immediately go long or short next day to take a swing trade entry. That’s when I have used first 5 minutes to trade.

You are always advised to stay patient and wait for the right opportunity in order to stay safe from huge losses. Enter the market with full confidence and proper planning. You are not suppose to make blind decisions and then blaming other unsuitable factors for failure.
