I’m really curious—how do you manage to stay disciplined and avoid overtrading after getting stopped out on a few positions?
Three stops in a row? That’s not a trading signal. That’s the market politely asking me to close the app.
Trading is serious business.
Discipline is behaviour & Behaviour takes time to form but can’t be managed. Overtrading happens due to non acceptance of loss. I always trade for loss but trading for Profit. Very few quality trade with high conviction better than trading with no setup or no real edge.
Overtrading is behaviour of Gambler, who is bound to loose.
If you want to stay in the game, you have to follow your own rules. Simple. The moment you start breaking them, the market gives you a reaction.
And honestly, if a trade is giving you too much thrill or making you nervous, it’s probably turning into gambling.
Have a fixed set of rules, maybe 2 trades a day, predefined risk/reward, and know what you’re getting into before taking the trade.
Easy to say, difficult to follow. But once you get that discipline in place, overtrading becomes a lot easier to control.
