How To Interpret Spike in Open Interest?

Hello All,

How do i interpret a Sudden Spike in Nifty Open Interest?

For example sake; if Nifty ATM or near ATM Open Interest in a Call or a Put option increases by say around 10 % in a matter of a couple of minutes (anytime after 9:20 AM); how do i read that data??

I request knowledgeable members to kindly spare some time and help a confused but eager market student. I will be genuinely grateful.

My question and confusion is focussed more on an intraday time-frame.

How do i interpret big OI spikes on a 3 minute chart or a 5 minute chart??
