do we need to pay commission or fee for ETFs? like mutual fund?

NIfty 50 is the benchmark index. You can’t invest in the index itself. Although you can invest in the ETFs and Index mutual funds that are following the Nifty 50 benchmark index. ETFs and Direct Index Mutual funds both have the expense ratio in-built which is already consumed from the amount you invest in them.
For ETF, visit https://zerodha.com/nifty-etf and for Nifty 50 Index Mutual Funds, visit https://coin.zerodha.com/funds and search for nifty 50 index funds.

@Matti

Buying and selling ETFs is like buying and selling any particular share of a company. So the standard Zerodha charges would apply. You can calculate them here. https://zerodha.com/charges

Also, direct Mutual Funds don’t have any distributor commission. Expense ratio is there, of course, as I mentioned above, which is deducted from your investments only. The Mutual Fund company/ ETF charges this expense ratio to manage your fund/ ETF, advertise/ market the fund/ ETF, pay the fund manager and other costs.

And please don’t call me sir. :slight_smile: I am not an official representative of Zerodha. I am a user like you only.

Index based investing (like that in a NIFTY 50 based ETF) is one of the most efficient and cost effective methods.
Here is one of the long-established article with a clear working example of how to invest in nifty 50 index, as compared to a mutual fund that only ruin your investments.

@siva @nithin One query regarding ETF
Can ETF also be delisted from exchanges like any other scrips?
Ie etf are regulated/managed by companies like reliance, sbi, edelweiss and they can delist at anytime they want. Isn’t it?

I am not sure on rules, will try to find out. But logically if AMC decides it can stop after returning all the money to holders at existing NAV.
