What’s the quickest way to find out the circuit limit of stocks?
Does zerodha kite allow place AMO orders at these limits?
For example, pc jeweller AMO sell order at 50% above the previous day’s closing price. And, Amo buy order at say 50% lower of previous closing price, assuming 50% is the circuit limit?
it is available in some terminals and NSE reports.
Does the circuit limit remain the same through the day?
How frequently & what basis it is revised?
It is revised based on some pre-set parameters by NSE and BSE.
BSE posts “Change in Circuit limits” everyday on their website in the “NOTICES” link on top
NSE posts “Price Band changes from next trade date (csv)” in their website under the path: Products -> Equities -> Current Market Reports -> View all end of the day reports
Within one day, circuit limit always remains the same. For a stock, it can be changed once every few months only it depends on the stock.
FNO stocks have no circuit limits, it can go any % up and any % down.
Most stocks have 20% circuit limit, which applies both upwards or downwards.
If stock hits 20% limit few times (either upward or downward), usually NSE changes it to 10%, and if again it keeps on hitting circuit, then changed to 5%.
For example, Vakrangee and Gitanjali recently kept falling so circuit limit was changed from 20% to 10% to 5%
For example, PIONDIST recently hit multiple upper circuits, so it also changed from 20% to 10% to 5%
Hi i had a query
In the case of Glenmark, the price of the stock increased by 35% in a single day
Even though there might be a circuit of 20% applicable on it.
So what happened in this case
Glenmark is traded in F&O segment, stocks traded in F&O segment don’t have limit on how much they can rise/fall, they do have circuit limit’s but those are removed instantly as price approaches the limit.
