How to set stop loss while placing a buy order

Hi,

I would like to put a stop loss for the order attached, while placing a buy order. How do I set the same? can someone guide, The stop loss is always a percentage and not in Rupee term

Please find an image attached:

In this I want to place the order when the price is 542.35 and I want to set the stop loss at 520, Please help

Thanks
Sachin

I think the stoploss you have selected is for triggering a GTT. (which i believe is allowed in %)

If you want to place an order with stoploss, i think you have to use the SL option instead of Limit.

Thanks for responding, but i have not selected a GTT. It is a simple buy order

I believe u r mistaken.

What i meant was, instead of using the Normal Stoploss order feature, u had actually selected the GTT stoploss feature, which can be set only using percentage, unlike the normal stoploss order, which can be set in Rupees terms as required by you.

You can checkout the following Zerodha support articles for your reference relating to STOPLOSS order v/s GTT STOPLOSS

Ok. Let me check and I will revert. Thanks

You cannot place a rupee figure buy and stop loss order at once. You have to do it separately as far as I know.

GTT is not an exchange order, it is triggered by the broker

Any reason not to use the GTT stoploss?

Edit: Ah, it seems like the GTT stoploss has the same limit price and trigger price. So perhaps safer to give it some range to operate in and avoid it not being triggered in a fast moving market.

No reason to not use. I use it for equity trades.

Using it for intraday etc seems not that great since you can’t granularly select price, only percentages. And the broker also has to send the order after trigger so your execution priority will be lower than if you had directly put an SL order when placing the buy order.
