How do I specify that I want to ‘short’ a stock in kite / Z5 / mobile app of Zerodha ?
there are many ways to Sort a Stock…if stocks trade in f&0 segment… than you can buy Put options of that stock… or Sell futures of that stock…
sell futures means sorting that stock
buy futures means you are going long in that stock…
Buy Put Options means you want to sort that stock.
Buy Call Option means you want to go long in that stock…
Shorting means selling a stock without previously buying it. You don’t have to specify anything in realtime, in kite select sell (MIS) enter quantity and place order (mkt / lmt / sl / slm). If you are shorting in cash segment you have to close your positins (buy) before the market closes that day itself. In futures segment you can hold on to positions till expiry which is last thursday of every month, except when last thursday is a trading holiday.
