I transferred shares from ICICI demat, my P&L on Kite showing wrong?

I had bought 100 shares of Reliance 2 years ago at Rs 1000 on ICICI direct. I transferred this recently to my Zerodha demat. Recently I also bought 100 share of Reliance at Rs 900 directly at Zerodha.

My P&L on Kite for the entire 200 shares are displayed considering my holding price as Rs 900 (the price at which I had bought at Zerodha).

Is Kite smart enough to factor the price of stock transferred from outside?

When transferring shares from another demat to your zerodha demat account, the shares are reflected under holdings in your ‘Q’ backoffice. But, for kite to factor in the buy price of shares transferred, you would have to go to your back office and under holdings click on ’ Add/View Discrepant Quantity’ and add the the price manually.

The trading platform pulls the data from Q and in turn Q gets updated as per the trade book. Here 100 shares was not purchased with us so we need to add the price manually in discrepant holding in Q.

We need to mention the price at which we bought it with Reliance to get the correct value.

The shares purchased from other dp and transfer to Zerodha dp, Once the shares transferred, Actual buying price of the shares need to update by client in Zerodha back office q.zerodha.com through Add/edit discrepant quantities.

Otherwise only the value of shares purchased through zerodha will display by default

When shares are transfer from ICICI demat account to Zerodha demat account, only quantity details will available with Zerodha in this case Kite or any system will not capture correct buy price until you enter correct buy price FOR 100 quantity in back office if there is option to enter discrepant buy price .

FYI, the P&L calculation in Kite is based on the average price data stored in “Q” backoffice and as you have transferred Reliance 100 shares from other demat account to Zerodha demat, we will not be knowing the buying price for those 100 shares and it will purely calculate with the average price of those 100 shares bought through Zerodha, but we have provided an option Add/edit discrepant quantities in Q, where you can update the buying price for the stock bought from other demat. Follow the below steps to update the same in “Q”

  1. Login to q.zerodha.com and go to PORTFOLIO–>HOLDINGS option on the homepage.
  2. On the right hand side top of the T1 & T2 Holdings detail box you will get Add/edit discrepant quantities, where you can enter the buying price for previously bought shares and Save it.
  3. After this you will be able to see the correct values in Kite.
