I have mutual funds in my Zerodha demat account which are stored in demat form. If I change my name in my Zerodha demat account will my name in all of the demat mutual fund folios also change automatically?
Or do I have to go to CAMS/ Karvy offices or the individual mutual fund offices and change each of them separately?
Also when I tell them it’s a demat folio, CAMS/ Karvy customer care team just says that they can’t do any changes in demat folios, and only the stockbroker can do changes
Hi @LogicalNeutron, the change in the name happens at the PAN level, since the holdings are in demat mode, once it’s updated at the PAN level and the Data is updated with us and the Depository. This data is fetched by the RTA every week from the BENPOS file and gets updated in their records; the AMCs are supposed to update this info using the RTAs updated feeds; no separate request is required from the broker end.
@Neelesh , Is it applicable only to mutual funds or all? Because I’ve changed my name before 6 months in PAN. But it’s not changed in CDSL. To change my name in CDSL, should I submit the name change form?
Hi, after changing name in PAN, name in CDSL demat account is not updated automatically. You will have to request your demat broker to change your name in their records and then it gets updated in CDSL records.
I updated my name on PAN and then on Zerodha by sending docs. Completed ReKYC. My name was updated on Zerodha, KRA. Even after that, when I bought Mutual funds through Coin, my name is showing the old one in AMCs.
It is better to close the account and open a new one. Zerodha has bugs in the system that they don’t update everywhere properly.
Hi Akshay, AMC will fetch details from the depository. Few AMCs might not update it regularly. Could yu please open a ticket and DM me the ticket number? We’ll have this resolved. @Akshay_Pai
