If I have an existing BSDA demat account and open a new Zerodha demat and then close the old demat account, will my Zerodha account become BSDA automatically?

If I have an existing BSDA demat account [ and my demat holdings are less than Rs 5 lakh ]
and I open a new Zerodha demat and then close my old demat account, will my Zerodha account become BSDA automatically ?

Yep. BSDA status is checked whenever AMC is charged. If only one demat exists under your PAN, it will automatically be treated as BSDA.

Btw, BSDA holding value is up to 4 lakh. Explained in detail here.
