Interim Dividend

Is the interim dividend differ from regular annual dividend ? Is it compulsory to get dividend in form of shares.

Since the dividend of the HAL, POWERGRID is given that the record date is 19/12. and the ex-date is 17/12. if I purchase stock on 16/12 then would I be eligible for the dividend.

Interim dividend is one that is declared and paid in the middle of an accounting year, i.e. before the finalization of accounts for the year.

While Final dividend is declared by the board of directors, at the company’s Annual General Meeting, after the close of financial year.

It is not compulsory for companies to pay dividends.

If you purchase shares before ex-dividend date, you will be eligible to receive dividends.

So you are trying to say that I will get dividend if i purchase tomorow.

But in zerodha website it is written that the share should be purchased two trading day before the ex-date.
here is the link of zerodha support page

Can i get paid-out in cash for the dividend amount ?

It says 2 trading days before the record date, record date always falls after ex-date, so if you purchase shares before ex-date you will be entitled for corporate action.

Dividend is always paid in cash.
