Intraday for living!

What percentage return should one aim for to consider intraday trading for a living?

First task is to not lose.

Most people lose, like more than 90%. Less than 2% make more than FD when trading actively over 3 years - Zerodha boss himself said so.

People seem to think that they are special and high failure rate does not apply to them. It does.

When you start, dont commit too much money. You are gonna lose it anyway. Keep it as low as possible i would say. Trade with 1/min qty, i used to do that.

There are many people who have no control on risk, get completely emotional and detached from reality and lose everything trying to get back lost money. Some even take loans and gamble that away and end up with negative net worth.
Just search this forum, many many threads. Dont make same mistake.

Now, lets say after years of struggle you have something that works. Then scale up in steps. Add capital, make good money, add capital etc. By then you should already have an idea on what your system can make. You dont need external inputs for that. But it wont be 1000%. For most, a target of say 20% per annum with 10-20% max drawdown is a decent target.
We can do better, quite a bit better. But dont assume so, and you should have capital that is happy with this. If you get more, great.

If above does not sound appealing, dont trade. If you dont have good capital, then dont trade or atleast dont do it full time until you do. gl.
