Are there any day traders who just trade in equity segment and make consistent money or do you have to switch to F&O and other segments to make consistent money ?
Of course there are equity day traders making money. Its just easier or harder depending on how you like to trade. In my personal view I find predicting how much market can move up or down within 50-100 points easier than movement in individual counters.
But there can be as many people who find trading a counter easier because they have spent enough time tracking that stock to know how it behaves most of the time. Also depends on the counter whether it is volatile i.e gives you enough trading signals either way or is it a sleepy counter where there isn’t much activity going on most of the time.
The best way to find which works for you is to try both. Most of the traders who stay in the markets for long have at some point traded both.
I have money in Equity and many more this is stable income with less headache. trading can provide you daily income but equity can give you pension plan.
Yup. There are so many equity day traders I have seen who consistently make money. Before focusing on my goal to build a long-term portfolio, the majority of my day trades have been in Equity itself. The basic crack apart from price action what I witnessed was a lot of them had certain stocks on their eye, kept observing their range and its behavior, and took major trades in them. This somewhat, I believe was better as they were well informed with the stock and did not have to look from the other thousands.
You can try tracking a stock and its action, take small bets on it and understand how it works for you. If it does, you can become consistent day on day.
I am profitable in equity trading segment , by doing delivery based , was doing BTST but stopped after new SEBI rule , i don’t do day trading in equity except FNO
thanks for your answer.
Yup, so many of them out there. For me, I am tilted towards swing trades but also take small bets for the day in the Equity segment and they have been favorable. Risk is anyway less comparatively, so the reward goes accordingly.
You can be profitable in equity trading segment however, there is no fixed earnings. We’ll have to learn to deal with profit or loss on a regular basis for years.
Yes, I trade only in equity segment. Not day trading but short term swing. In my opinion short term equity trading is much reliable and rewarding. It all depends on your methods.
Take note that there is always movement in some sectors. To trade well consistently, one needs to understand how markets work rather than just support resistance and stoplosses. These days we have so many resources to learn what impacts stocks. Know how macro and micro factors work and they will reward us. And also saves us hell lot of losses rather than holding onto them without knowing why.
