Is It Possible Of Short Selling a Stock and Buy By EOD?
yes, use intraday orders like BO,CO.
Yes you can do this, by selecting intraday productypes like MIS, CO(cover order) or BO(bracket order). You are suppose to buyback your intraday position before cut off time, if you don’t do it system would cover the same after the cutoff time. It is always suggested you to close the position before intraday cutoff time yourself.
Assuming the so called CUT OFF time is 3.15 and the short seller do not buy the scrip . the system will buy it anytime during 3.15 to 3.30 from market so as to square off the position . WILL THERE BE ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES if the system buy on behalf of investor ?
Depends on brokers like Zerodha charges 20 as call and trade
OK so you mean brokers do charge extra for square off by system after the so called CUT OFF TIME ! i am bit curious because with my broker , i never have to specify while selling or buying if it for intra day trading or delivery .
Yes many brokers charge and they should because they are undertaking clients responsibility to square of his leveraged intraday positions.
You are wrong! You missed out on the product type. Ask your broker about it. It must be that your trading platform has a intraday order type as default and you never tried to change the product type.
@maddy_Des : there is nothing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that i have to specify /choose while executing a deal ( buy or sell ) if it is for same day square off or delivery .If i purchase a share and do not sell it by EOD it automatically result in delivery VISA VERSA. it is as simple as this . there is no cut off time to do so but end of trading hours . These "products type " are not prescribed by exchanges but broker specific and every broker designed it in the way as per own convenience .
For T and Z group shares obviously you can not square off same day but SURELY next day . in this case too many brokers do not allow next day sale but on third or some brokers on fourth day ,wherein stock exchanges do not prescribe any such rule.
I think you are not using leverage provided to you by your broker therefore you don’t have to specify it. Also this differs from different brokers
I deal with 2 brokers , NSE where 90 % of my trade are there, through a nse proprietor member and BSE with a listed corporate brokerage house . never have to specify /choose anything while order feed .
Try to short sell some shares today and don’t buy them EOD. And then let me know on Monday how much penalty u pay in auction
It is obvious that a short sale not covered by EOD will be auctioned and not on Monday , if i do so today auction will be on Wednesday but why on earth i am suppose to do so ???
This whole thread is so weird! The question you asked read so naive, and then suddenly you displayed knowhow as if you are some market veteran!
WTF are “nse proprietor member” and “listed corporate brokerage house”?
Lesser souls like me only know “Brokers”.
It seems you are a relic from 1990s,
How come your PM & CBH manage RM? If you buy shares worth 20 lakh with margin of 1 lakh for intraday (20x leverage) then imagine what will happen if you do not sq off by 3:30? Paisa kaha se layega wo?
Clearly, you are not using any leverage (and you don’t know this).
Plz share the names of your brokers.
