Joint demat account queries

I currently have an individual trading and demat account with zerodha which I use for trading stocks in Kite and invest in MF in Coin.

I am planning to open a joint demat account with my mother.

My doubts and queries:-

  1. Can I still open joint demat account with my mother, as I already have individual demat and trading accounts
  2. From where will my zerodha and Coin app display data (such as funds, margins, collateral, etc…)? Related to my individual demat account or from my joint account or both combined?
  3. Suppose my individual demat account have x securities and the joint demat account have y securities (in kite and zerodha combined), can I pledge both the securities to get margins in my trading account as (x+y)-(haircut) for trading purpose ?

Thank you for your response @Jack_R , but the question was not about how to open new joint account, but the nature of joint account and its functionality.

@ShubhS9 @Meher_Smaran Can someone please answer?

Answers as per my understanding

  1. Yes
  2. Both will be separate accounts and not combined. You will have to manager (buy/sell) shares and mutual funds separately.
  3. No, both will be different accounts so you cannot pledge joint account shares/funds and use the margin for your trading account.

It’ll display for the account you are logged in to. Both will be different accounts and logins.

You can open a joint account, however, you cannot be a primary account holder in that joint account since you already have an individual account.

Nope. This isn’t possible, this will be a completely separate account and will have to be managed separately.
