Leading indicators in nifty options trading

What are some leading(not lagging) indicators in options trading in nifty ??

I am looking at price, price levels, candle formation. Unlike a stock price, an option price moves very fast and is unpredictable in most of the cases, I am yet to find a reliable indicator which I can use to take entries. I am talking about scalping, and not buying and holding for the entire session, till the trend reverses.

In ur experience ,does indicators like supertrend and vwap works in intraday nifty options trading if one is okay with holdingthe trade for one two hrs

I have a few weeks of experience with options

Forgot about VWAP :man_facepalming:

Yes VWAP is taken as an indicator, as it has both and price volume, it is used.

I don’t know if supertrend works for longer time frames, I did not find it very useful for my trading.

Try different combinations of indicators for your trading setup and see if you are getting signals from them. Indicators work as they are designed, we can change some as per our need, we cannot change some, but they should work for us, so check and see.

in which time frame u trade and tested with suprtrend ??

I did not test it, I just used and checked for sometime, and that too not in real time. Although I have seen in videos that people are using it.

I did not check for long too, on the surface, it did not seem like I can use it for my trading, so stopped.

All of the above are lagging signals

Price is lagging?

Then what is leading?

yes

Anything that indicates future price movement ( volatility/vix for example).

By price, I mean price of the entire day, of the recent few candles, and price at different support and resistance levels. So it is helping me.

And, I look at volume in conjunction with price and make my observations, and so far, it has been okay.

I am yet to look at VIX.

Please read the questioner’s query again

I read and replied with what I know, and what I said in that reply was about me.

If you have anything to share, you can directly tell him :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Come on man, you can’t give wrong information and get peeved when corrected.

I said what I know about VWAP and supertrend, and what I do.

I did not give any wrong information.

I am not.

You can directly answer the OP if you have any answers, you don’t have to reply to me :face_with_spiral_eyes:

You might want to dive deeper into this subject. The stated notion about vix isn’t correct.

how so?

It is not surprising to see a person who is equipped with good articulation skill, use appropriate words to convey a message, portray the situation as it is, which I cannot interpret as condescending :+1:

Vix/volatility is derived from Option prices (not the other way round). So we can’t say that vix is leading. Price is supreme and not the vix.

vix is derived from the pricing of options from near weekly&monthly expiries. This pricing has been arrived at in the open market by the expected move of the underlying (indicative of expected future move). Historical price doesn’t intrinsically say anything about future price movement.
